Ostara

Ostara

Ostara is the festival of the Spring Equinox. It's the third sabbath of the Wheel of the year and takes place on March 19th. Ostara celebrates the Germanic Goddess of dawn Eostre, also known as Aurora or Eos in romance and greek mythology. Eostre means East, where the sun rises. The light that we brought back when celebrating Yule, finally overtakes the darkness. Spring signifies fertility and the beginning of a new life. Some symbols include eggs, flowers, hares and buds. Hares are nocturnal creatures until March, where they are seen all day long, trying to mate. Since the female hare can get pregnant a second time while already being pregnant with the first litter, they are considered a sacred symbol of fertility.

Ostara is the perfect time to plant the seeds you want to see grow, physically and spiritually. Take some time to think about your plans for this year and what you wish to accomplish. It's important to do a cleaning ritual, again, spiritually and physically. Clean your house or apartment, donate some clothes you no longer wear, let go of what doesn't serve you. This is the time to let toxic people out of your life. Think about your goals and what you need to put in place to achieve them. Do a little self care, a nice pedicure, exfoliate your body, wash your sheets or go for a nice walk outside and breathe in the fresh air. Declutter your home and mind!
